Particle で
This particle indicates location as well as a method or means used for an
action.
- 私 は レストラン で ケーキ を たべました。- I ate a cake at a restaurant.
- 田中 さん は はし で ごはん を たべます。- Tanaka eats meals with chopsticks.
- マーク さん は えいご で てがみ を かきます。- Marc writes a letter in English.
- 私 は バス で 学校 に いきます。- I go to school by bus.
で is also used when asking how to say something in another language.
- 「ありがとう」 は えいご で なん です か。- What is 'arigatoo' in English?
Already もう
もう means 'already' and is used with the verb past form to indicate that
something has been done and completed already.
- もう かぞく に でんわ を しました か。- Have you phoned your family yet?
はい、 もう でんわ を しました。
いいえ、まだ です。
Note that the negative response is saying 'no, not yet', so in this case
you wouldn't use the past negative verb form to indicate this.
